Sticks and Stones

After yesterday's trip to the dark side, I thought I would lighten things up a bit.

In December of 1981, I went to New Orleans with a few friends to see the Rolling Stones.

I wore a coat, had my camera and lenses hidden, hoping to sneak my camera in.

I shouldn't have bothered. The security guys at the Superdome entrance we used were searching everyone...

for booze.

They found my camera and lenses and didn't care one bit. The other folks trying to sneak adult beverages into the concert had their goodies taken away. After all, they were selling beer at the concert and a B.Y.O.B. situation would hurt beer sales.

These are the picks of the litter. I scanned them, tried to lessen the impact of the film's grain, and cropped them as needed. Most are nearly full frame. This was back when ISO 400 film was as fast as you could buy, so the necessary slow shutter speeds I was forced to use left many photos a bit blurry.

It was a great concert and a lot of fun trying to shoot it. I had never taken photos at a concert before this. Give 'em a click.

Wow, those are great pics! I personally detest the Rolling Stones, but the pictures are good =P

Thanks. I liked the Stones, because when I was in high school in the late 70's, they had a lot of hits that were part of the back drop of my life. And at the time, I had never been to the Superdome, and at the time, the Stones doing a tour was a big deal. It had been years since they had toured the States. I'm not crazy about them either, to the point of having all of their albums, but I liked them enough to go to this event. And it DEFINITELY was an event.

I can see! Mick Jaggers clothes alone are a show in themselves, lol!

Oh, and question - what's blogger beta like?

Not very different, if you ask me. I don't have the energy/inclination to make changes to my template and the look of my blog, so I think most of the changes are a non-issue for me. It does post faster than the original one, no waiting while it slowly goes through the motions. I hoped it would make posting comments easier, but it's still weird. You have to get a Google name/password. It was probably easier to post as 'other' and then enter my name. But it's done. It's really not a big deal. I thought they would make us all do it someday anyway so I did it one weekend when I had time. It does supposedly give one more control over the details of one's blog, so it's there if I get the urge.
