Casual Conversations From My "Man Corner"

Sunday night, I was in the bedroom working on wedding photos, and then stopped when my eyes started to cross from doing the same thing over and over, and wrote a rough draft of a blog post for Monday. (I like to write rough drafts, and then rework them on the morning of the actual posting. The sleep gives me a separation and allows me to reword angry parts and to see misspelled words easier with fresh morning eyes.)

Side note: I have a small L-shaped desk in our bedroom where my computer resides. This allows me to disappear to work on photos or blogs or to write fiction or whatever, in peace and quiet.

Some guy's have a "Man Room." I have a Man Corner. Hey, I'll take what I can get, ya know?

Anyway, I had stopped working on the photos because frankly, I was sick of them, and started typing away on yesterday's masterpiece of prose.

Lovely Wife had come in and gone to bed early so that she could read for a little while. (A Debbie Macomber book. She loves Karen Kingsbury and Debbie Macomber.)

I'm typing away, and she's reading.

She says, "Wow, you've really gotten fast at typing."

Being half deaf, I stopped, turned toward her and sweetly asked, "Huh?!"

She said, "The keyboard is really clacking over there. You're typing has really gotten fast with all of the blogging."

Sorrowfully, but truthfully, I replied, "Well, most of that clacking of the keys you hear is me hitting the Backspace key so that I can correct mistakes. If you hear 60 words per minute worth of clacking, you can bet I'm only typing about 30 words per minute of actual progress."

She laughed.

The truth hurts sometimes.

If my Backspace key ever breaks, I'll be dead in the water as far as coherent typing is concerned.

Thus is my life.

I'll try to post a picture of my Man Corner tomorrow.

New Feature! Headlines For Total Geeks

Electronic Engineering Times headline: IBM has successfully fabricated graphene field-effect transistors (FETs) using a single atomic layer of carbon atop a silicon wafer.

Feel free to talk about this amongst yourselves.

I suspect this is the truth for most of us.

My dining room table has become my Woman's corner. Hubby uses the desktop in the computer room. I love my space as the morning sunlight filters in through the window and I can see out into the backyard too. I also wear out my backspace key, part of the problem being my D key sticking and having to go back and fill in many of the words with the letter D. Boring an takes me twice as long now.

I used to think I was fast until I read this.

Now I realize why my backsapce is a different color than the rest of the keys.

I hear you on the backspace. It's my buddy.

About the headline: That's definitely what would happen if my husband went into journalism. Yet another reason that will never happen.

Oh my! This is so funny....I read the backspace part to my husband and then I had to add Hammer's comments.

As I glance down at my keyboard the o,l,n,and m are all nearly warn off.

I have a corner in the bedroom, too.
That's it...unless you count the kitchen (I always seem to be there)

But my husband has 2 rooms! He's has an office and a studio, here on the premises. He's spoiled rotten!

But he does share his office with the family when he has to.
