Either way, it blew our minds, the size of this thing, and the "Oh, here comes a car. Well, I guess I better move along now." casualness of his run. What I called "loping". He wasn't scared, he just felt it was time to mosey on.

When I was in H.S. in Louisiana, back in the day, I worked some with a tiger at the local zoo. They had a bobcat there, but it was much smaller than the one I describe here.

They also had a black jaguar too, which is totally off point, but I remember how I loved to look at it. He was jet black, but you could still see his spots like the way you can make patterns in a solid color of suede.

Thanks for stopping by.JAMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04272374108524693575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23686262.post-46454146241888938602007-01-19T21:56:00.000-05:002007-01-19T21:56:00.000-05:00You most likely saw a large bobcat. I live in FL and have seen many bobcats, and sometimes they are as large as you described(I have seen a couple large ones and thought PANTHER right away too...but then I studied closer). People think the larger bobcats are panthers right away due to the large size. To know for sure, you have to look at the tail. A panther tail is long and a bobcat's is much shorter. Also the panther is more tawny/tan and not so spotted.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23686262.post-56418614918697403232007-01-12T11:29:00.000-05:002007-01-12T11:29:00.000-05:00What is now called the Florida Panther once lived ...What is now called the Florida Panther once lived all over the southeast.
